6. Service and Citizenship

The service and citizenship scenario Education is a discrete social space, the responsibility of the state and formal educators. Its function is to ‘prepare’ individuals for different economic and social trajectories. This scenario explores what might happen if education were seen in a purely service role to the wider world, where the role of educators is to offer all learners the basics needed for that world in terms of skills and competencies and citizenship knowledge.
